Current students are advised by faculty advisors. After meeting with an advisor, students are eligible to register themselves for classes online using Workday Student.
Scheduling an Advising Appointment
All advising appointments are scheduled online through Bookings.
- Check your email for a link to schedule with your assigned advisor (current students)
- Call or Visit the Student Success Center in person
When do you need an advising appointment?
You typically need an advising appointment:
- Before registering for classes
- When changing your schedule
- If you’re unsure what courses to take
- If you’re having academic difficulties
- If you have questions about transferring to another university
Additional walk-in registration dates (no appointment required) are offered prior to the start of each term.
Before Your Advising Appointment
Step 1
Complete Required Tasks
Make sure you’ve finished any onboarding steps in Workday Student prior to registering for each semester. Advisors may not be able to register you until these are done. Not sure how to complete onboarding? Use this Onboarding Steps Guide.
Step 2
Review Your Plan
Take a few minutes to look over:
- Your degree or certificate requirements
- Any courses you’ve already completed
- Placement scores or prerequisites
Step 3
Know Your Goals
Think about what you want to accomplish:
- Are you planning to transfer?
- Working toward a specific career?
- Trying to graduate faster?
Step 4
Make a List of Questions
Come prepared with anything you’re unsure about, like:
- “What classes should I take next?”
- “Will these credits transfer?”
- “Am I on track to graduate?”
Step 5
Check Your Schedule
Know your availability before your appointment so you can build a realistic class schedule (including work, high school classes, or other commitments).
Step 6
Arrive Early (or Log In Early)
Give yourself a few extra minutes so you’re not rushed—especially for virtual appointments.
