UACCM Student International Travel Program

Frequently Asked Questions

Question/Answers

Who can go?

Anyone high school age and up is welcome. You don’t have to be a current student – just a student of the world. We have had travelers ages 17 to 77 on our tours.

How long are the tours?

The tours vary but generally last from one to two weeks – long enough to experience the culture, but not long enough to get too homesick.

How expensive are the tours?

Trips vary but tend to run in the 4K to 5K range. International travel can be pricey, but group student travel is one of the cheapest ways to go.

What’s included?

Nearly everything: all travel (plane, bus, boat, etc.), hotels, breakfasts and dinners, entry fees for everything on the agenda, the tour guide services, and more! You will need to buy a passport if you don’t have one and bring money for lunch and souvenirs, but that’s about it. Tips are usually included in the tour price, but aren’t on some tours. (They will cost about $7-$10 a day.)

What if I really want to go, but I can’t afford it?

There are lots of ways to raise funds. If you are willing to put forth some effort, your tour leaders will help with ideas and lots of support. Scholarships are limited, but may be available. You can also make interest free monthly payments.

Will I feel safe?

All tours include the services of an experienced tour guide 24/7. Explorica has been organizing students tours for over 50 years and monitors their groups.

Can I get college credit?

Yes! If you are a General Education major, you can earn three hours towards your directed general education electives by going on tour and taking the corresponding course. Talk to your tour leader for more information. (Ahem…this is probably the coolest way you’ll ever earn three hours of college credit.)
