Resolve A Federal Student Aid Overpayment

The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and/or your FAFSA Submission Summary indicates that you have a Federal Student Aid Overpayment (can include Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunities Grant, Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant, Federal Perkins Loans, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant or a Federal Student Loan).

You are not eligible for financial aid until you resolve all of your federal overpayments. Your eligibility for financial aid can be restored if you can provide documentation from the Department of Education and/or the institution that holds your overpayment indicating that the overpayment has been resolved.

Please view the status of your federal student aid on the studentaid.gov website “Account Dashboard” for information on whom to contact to resolve the overpayment.

Required documentation to submit to the Financial Aid Office:

  • Current letter(s) from the Department of Education and/or the institution that holds the overpayment verifying that all overpayments have been resolved. The statement should be on letterhead.
