 fter an initial weather-related setback the week before, The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton held its annual “Night of Luminaries” on Tuesday, December 12. The campus drive was lined with almost 1700 candle-lit luminary bags decorated by elementary school-age children from West Side, Morrilton Elementary, Morrilton Primary, Morrilton Intermediate, Wonderview, Nemo Vista, Sacred Heart, and the Center for Exceptional Children.
During the event, college staff and faculty members served refreshments, and Santa, Mrs. Claus and two helpful assistants from the North Pole distributed over 200 bags of toys to children attending the event.
The event was sponsored by the UACCM Foundation. Arkansas Valley Wholesale donated the bags used for the luminary candles, and Haynes Home Center donated the sand. |
