he University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton extends thanks to everyone who participated in the 2007 Bahamas Daze week August 27th through 31st. The activities throughout the week are designed to give students a warm welcome and help them start out the year with a positive attitude.
The college sponsors the annual event for students and employees. During the Back-to-School Bash on Wednesday, August 29, the college served approximately 800 Petit Jean Hot Dogs, over 500 cookies and chips, and approximately 720 soft drinks.
CIS instructor Steven Wallace provided music for the day as well as Little Rock radio station The Point 94.1. The Point also conducted a live remote with Morrilton native Jennifer Trafford of the morning show and held a “birthday wheel spin” contest with prizes throughout the day.
Many of the student organizations on campus set up information tables, and Admissions Counselors Dave Pinson and Rachel Mullins put together a table display where students could sign up for intramural sports held throughout the year. Congratulations to Amanda Burton who won the Bahama Mama Limbo Contest and Justin Dascanio who won the Surfer Dude Limbo Contest. Both students received a $25 gift certificate to the UACCM Bookstore.
We hope everyone enjoyed the event, and we extend thanks to the following:
- Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Morrilton for donation of half of the soft drinks and water
- Morrilton Packing for donation of half of the Petit Jean Grillers (the official hot dog of Razorback games)
We sincerely appreciate the support of the local businesses who contribute to the success of our special events and activities each year. |
