Credit Policy for Advanced Placement Exam

  1. Arkansas public colleges and universities agree to award credit for performance on the Advanced Placement exams using the following guidelines:
    - All institutions will award some level of credit, as determined by the institution, for scores of 4 and scores of 5.
    - The use of scores of 3 and lower for credit, placement, or exemption will be left to the discretion of the institution.
  2. If a student has received credit from a college or university for a score of 4 or 5 and transfers to another Arkansas public college or university, the receiving institution will accept the credit for that course or courses in the same manner in which course credit is accepted for other courses transferred from an accredited institution of higher education and consistent with the receiving institution’s AP policy.  AP exam scores on the basis of which credit, placement, or exemption is given (including scores lower than 4 or 5) must either be entered on the academic record or must accompany the transcript when a student asks that a transcript of the record be sent to another institution for transfer.
  3. Transfer of credit, placement, or exemption for scores lower than 4 will be left to the discretion of the receiving institution.
  4. Each institution will clearly communicate its policy and acceptance of AP exams by providing the following information: the name of the AP exam, the corresponding college/university course(s), and the amount of credit awarded for acceptable scores on the exam.
  5. This information will be printed in the next available edition of the school’s catalog.  The information will also be placed on the institution’s web page and will be available at the appropriate offices within the college or university.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP allows students to earn credit toward graduation by attaining a UACCM qualifying score on either the general and/or subject examinations.  A student may acquire a maximum of 30 hours of college credit through CLEP.  It is possible to earn 29 semester hours of credit through the CLEP General Examinations and 18 semester hours of credit through the CLEP Subject Examinations; however, in no case may a student earn more than one-half of the degree requirements through credit by examination.  Credit earned through CLEP may satisfy general education requirements; however, to be awarded credit, students must complete with passing grades twelve hours of credit courses at UACCM.  Credit may be earned either before or after enrollment as long as a comparable or more advanced course in that area has not been completed (received course grade of passing, failing, or audit).  Students must have prior approval from the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services to count the hours toward graduation.

Following are the CLEP examinations that UA Community College at Morrilton will accept, the corresponding qualifying score required, and credit awarded.
