ARNEC Program Nursing Instructor

Full-Time

The Arkansas Rural Nursing Education Consortium (ARNEC) seeks a dynamic, innovative, and creative educator for the position of Registered Nursing Instructor to add to its ARNEC teaching team.

ARNEC is a consortium of eight Arkansas community colleges: ASU-Newport, Black River Technical College, UA Cossatot, Ozarka College, South Arkansas Community College, University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, and University of Arkansas Community College at Rich Mountain.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a valid, unencumbered Arkansas Registered Nursing license
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and current enrollment in an accredited Masters of Nursing program
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Arkansas
  • Three to five years of clinical nursing experience at the RN level or higher
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice
  • Must not have had nursing license suspended, been on probation, or been reprimanded by any State Board of Nursing
  • Must submit to background checks

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous nursing education experience
  • Accreditation experience
  • Experience teaching in an online setting and/or using a distance education platform (Blackboard)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This is a full time, 12-month position. Responsibilities include theory instruction, course development, participation in committees, meetings, program and professional development activities, and other duties as assigned. Travel and evening work is required. While the position will be employed through UA Cossatot, the individual can be housed at the nearest campus in the consortium.

Primary permanent office location will be at the college campus closest to the educator’s home.

SALARY

Salary is in the $60,000 range; dependent upon education and experience and position includes paid vacation and sick leave, a retirement package, and group health, dental, vision, and life insurance options

Adjunct Faculty - Nursing Clinicals

Part-Time

Instructor Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Supervise students in the clinical and/or simulation setting.
  • Maintain student attendance and records as directed.
  • Document successful and unsuccessful performance in the clinical/simulation situation.
  • Assist in the evaluation process and grading of student performance.
  • Attend faculty meetings as determined by the Program Director and/or Program Chair.
  • Attend and participate in advisory committee meetings as scheduled by the applicable ARNEC institution.
  • Participate in the systematic evaluation process of the nursing program.
  • Maintain working knowledge in the teaching and nursing field by attending workshops, continuing education opportunities, and professional development.
  • Adhere to the ARNEC Program Guide, Student Guide, and Syllabi for all ARNEC students.  Adhere to institutional policies in effect at UACCM.

The Adult Education Part-time Teacher works under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education and will be responsible for providing instruction to a diverse group of individuals with a variety of personal goals, including: improving basic skills, gaining digital and financial literacy skills, and/or earning a GED®. This temporary, part-time position will be assigned to the UACCM Adult Education Center in Conway; the position will require a day and evening work schedule. The primary areas of instruction will be mathematics and science.

This position has been made available by “special projects” grant funds from the Arkansas Department of Career Education – Adult Education Division.

Funding for this temporary position will expire on June 13, 2019.

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach basic skills/concepts in reading, language, mathematics, and science.
  • Provide a variety of instructional deliveries including individualized instruction, small group instruction, and whole class instruction.
  • Facilitate learning with textbooks, workbooks, lectures, computer based educational programs, audio/visual aids, hands-on activities, and peer tutors.
  • Assist students with the development of digital literacy skills and provide learning activities designed to enhance financial literacy skills.
  • Collaborate with students to document long and short-term goals based upon identified career pathways, update individual learning plans and provide students with progress reports on a consistent basis.

Coordinator of Academic Computing

The Coordinator of Academic Computing works under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology.

Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Serve as the lead administrator for the campus Learning Management System.
  • Assist faculty in the analysis, design, and development of effective and efficient instructional programs using technology for student achievement.
  • Develop training materials and carry out user training in the use of digital technologies for faculty and staff.
  • Provide administration and support for technology to improve learning outcomes, facilitate technology-rich teaching, and advance curricular innovation.
  • Continually search for, evaluate, and implement use of new technologies including hardware, software, web sites, and web-based learning opportunities.
  • Monitor classroom technology for functionality and maintain complete and accurate records of technology used by faculty and staff in classrooms and labs. 
  • Work cooperatively with the Vice Chancellor for Student Services (ADA Compliance Officer) and disability services staff in identifying and problem solving digital access challenges and opportunities, including use of assistive technology hardware and software.
  • Work cooperatively with public relations and marketing staff to ensure website and video accessibility.
  • Train and support faculty and staff on creating and maintaining accessible documents, for use online and/or in the classroom.
  • Perform product installation and configuration as required.
  • Maintain equipment and troubleshoot problems in the classrooms in a timely manner. 
  • Assist in the purchasing requests for technology hardware and software.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to student workers and/or interns in fulfilling the goals of the institution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Knowledge of administering a Blackboard SaaS installation.
  • Knowledge of Blackboard account and course management.
  • Knowledge of Blackboard batch processing, including SIS format and REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of best practices in course design.
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and software
  • Ability to install and maintain hardware and software used in the educational environment.
  • Ability to provide effective training in the use of educational technologies and software.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and how they apply to an educational environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends.

Library Technician

The Library Technician is responsible for providing technical support to enable the delivery of library services and reports directly to the Library Director.  The Library Technician participates in creating a welcoming library environment conducive to research and study while enforcing college and library policies. Work may include evening and weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) hours.

Representative Duties:

  • Performs necessary circulation duties through the library’s integrated library system for all library resources
  • Coordinates study room use and requests
  • Assist patrons regarding  physical and online library resources, and available technology in a helpful and cooperative manner
  • Maintains accessibility of the library collection through daily shelf reading, shelving materials, and knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system
  • Provides exceptional customer service by remaining attentive, approachable, and available to patrons, assisting as appropriate

Peer Writing Tutor

The Peer Writing Tutor works at Academic Commons (library area) under the supervision of the Library Director. The Peer Writing Tutor provides writing tutoring and assignment assistance to UACCM students.

  • Provides peer tutoring and assistance to UACCM students with their writing assignments and presentation
  • Develops tutoring materials and strategies to support student needs

  • Proctor Best Literacy or TABE CLAS-E testing sessions for current and potential ESL students.
  • Provide classroom support to the Faulkner County English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher.
  • Perform general office duties such as but not limited to filing, making copies, answering phones, taking messages, compiling data.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
