Students completing the Practical Nursing program are qualified to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX). After passing this exam, students may enter the job market as a licensed practical nurse or use their license to enter a registered nursing program.

Students are encouraged to take ACAD 0411 College Study Skills their first semester to better equip them to make the transition from high school to college-level course work.

Admission

Admission into the UACCM nursing program is a competitive process. There are a number of requirements which must be completed before a student can be considered for the nursing program. Click Here to learn more about the admission process for Practical Nursing.

After UACCM

Graduates have no problem finding employment. Students go to work in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.

Hints

  • Because students should plan on studying most of the time, they should plan to work as little as possible.
  • Students must complete all remedial courses needed before beginning program-specific courses.

Note

  • Students completing the Practical Nursing program are qualified to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX). After passing this exam, students may enter the job market as a licensed practical nurse or use their license to enter a registered nursing program.
  • Students are required to be finger printed and have a criminal background check before being allowed to sit for the NCLEX, the nursing exam.
  • Rural Nursing Education Consortium LPN/LVN to RN program must read the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act, ACA §17-87-312, (provided in course syllabi each semester) and submit a signed statement indicating that they understand that graduating from a nursing program in Arkansas does not assure the Arkansas State Board of Nursing's approval to take the licensure examination.
