In addition to the course requirements listed, students must successfully pass the Praxis I exam and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.65. The Arkansas pass score for the Praxis I are as follows: Reading=172, Writing=173, Math=171. Students must check with the admitting four-year university for Praxis I requirements. Please see the Division Chair for Education, Marilyn Thomas, if you have any questions regarding the requirements for the AAT degree.
Students are encouraged to take UACC 1041 Study Skills their first semester to better equip them to make the transition from high school to college-level course work.
The Arkansas Department of Higher Education has approved this degree plan as listed; no course substitutions will be allowed. Further, Arkansas four-year universities have agreed to "accept and apply all AAT courses toward the total semester credit hours required for the bachelor's degree in Middle School or P-4 Education" and to "admit qualified AAT students to the College of Education with junior status."
